Approval support for protective coating solutions

On a large project, coating decisions go through several rounds of review: the client, the client’s consulting engineer, the main contractor, the designer, technical supervision. Comments arrive in Russian and English, the parties’ requirements diverge, and the materials in the original specification cannot always be bought. We take on the technical side of this process — justifications and responses that can be verified.

How we help

  • Analysis of requirements. We go through the client’s specification and the applicable codes and draw up a compliance matrix: requirement — how it is met — which document confirms it.
  • Material substitution. We prepare a justification of equivalence: a comparison of technical data, test results and manufacturer’s documents, and compatibility with the other coats of the system.
  • Responses to comments. We maintain the comment and response sheet, make the changes and issue new revisions of the documents.
  • Comparison of standards. We show where the requirements of GOST, ShNK and KMK (Uzbekistan’s Urban Planning Norms and Rules and Building Norms and Rules) coincide with ISO, EN, ASTM and UL, and where they differ in substance — for example, on the critical temperature of steel and on fire test regimes.
  • Technical meetings. We take part in discussions of the solutions with the client, the designer and the contractor — online or on site.
  • Bilingual documents. We prepare coating documentation in Russian and English with consistent technical terminology.

How it usually works

  1. We receive the documents, comments and correspondence on the matter.
  2. We separate technical comments from editorial ones and determine what requires calculation or testing.
  3. We prepare the responses and revised documents and agree them with you before they are sent.
  4. We support the next round of review until the comments are closed out.

Who makes the decision

The approval decision is made by the client and the organisations it authorises. We are responsible for the technical quality of the justifications, calculations and responses — for making sure the reviewers are left with no questions that the documents do not answer.

For reference: an overview of the fire protection standards of Uzbekistan, Russia, the EU and the USA is given in the “Fire protection standards” section.
