Projects for Uzbekistan are often designed abroad — to Russian SP and GOST R, European EN, American NFPA and UL or Chinese GB standards. The building, however, is built to the codes of Uzbekistan: the design goes through state expert review, the materials through conformity assessment, and the finished building through acceptance and state fire supervision. We bring the fire protection and corrosion protection sections of a foreign design in line with Uzbek requirements so that the solutions pass expert review and can be carried out with available materials and local contractors.
You can start with a free express review of the project section — we will show which solutions need adapting.
When adaptation is needed
- the design was made by a foreign designer or to foreign codes, and the building is constructed in Uzbekistan;
- the specification calls for materials that lack the documents required in Uzbekistan or are hard to supply;
- the expert review or the client returned the section with comments on fire resistance, fire protection or corrosion protection;
- the main contractor has to reconcile the requirements of an international contract (EN, ISO, UL) with national codes.
What we do
- Compare the requirements. We compare the project codes with the Uzbek ones: the fire resistance degree of the building and the fire resistance of structures — under ShNK 2.01.02-04 “Fire safety of buildings and structures”, the protection of structures against corrosion — under ShNK 2.03.11-24, test methods — under RST Uz 30247 and O’z DSt 2313:2011 for the fire protection of steel structures.
- Identify the gaps. We mark where the project requirements are lower than the national ones, where they are higher and where they are supported by documents that are not used in Uzbekistan.
- Check the materials. We check whether the specified materials have conformity documents under the technical regulation on fire safety equipment (Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 536 of 28.09.2022). If not, we propose an equivalent replacement with a justification.
- Recalculate the solutions. Fire protection thicknesses for the sections and the required fire resistance, corrosion protection systems for the corrosivity category and service life, material quantities.
- Prepare the documents. An explanatory note and changes to the section, specifications, thickness schedules and a code compliance table — in Russian, English or both.
- Support the expert review. We answer the comments of the expert review and the client and justify the solutions adopted.
What we need from you
- the project section (steel, reinforced concrete, corrosion protection, fire protection) and the material specifications;
- the purpose of the building and the required fire resistance degree, if already determined;
- comments of the expert review or the client, if any;
- the contract requirements for codes and materials.
What you receive
- a compliance table: project requirement — Uzbek code requirement — adopted solution;
- corrected fire protection and corrosion protection solutions with calculations;
- a list of materials with the documents required in Uzbekistan and replacement options;
- answers to comments and support during the expert review.
Uzbekistan’s regulatory framework is updated regularly, so we check every reference against the current edition in the national legislation database. An overview of the documents is in the “Fire protection in the codes of Uzbekistan” section.
