Since 28 February 2025, corrosion protection of building structures in Uzbekistan has been designed to ShNK 2.03.11-24 “Protection of Building Structures of Buildings and Facilities against Corrosion”, which replaced KMK 2.03.11-96. The official text is published in Uzbek only; there is no official English or Russian version. We have translated the document in full into English and Russian: the approval order, 8 chapters (119 clauses) and 20 annexes with all tables and footnotes. Both translations are available through one form below.

Contents
| Chapter | Subject |
|---|---|
| 1 | References to urban planning codes and to technical regulation documents |
| 2 | Terms and definitions |
| 3 | General provisions |
| 4 | Concrete and reinforced concrete structures: general requirements, surface protection, protection against stray-current corrosion, degree of aggressive exposure, choice of protection method |
| 5 | Timber structures |
| 6 | Masonry structures |
| 7 | Chrysotile cement structures |
| 8 | Metal structures |
Most of the document is in the annexes, which are used to determine the degree of aggressiveness and the protection requirements:
- Environments: classification of service environments (Annex 1), aggressiveness of gaseous and solid media (2), aggressive environments for metal structures (17).
- Concrete and reinforced concrete: sulphates in soil (3), chlorides (4), concrete properties and cement types (5), requirements for structures (6), wall structures (7), embedded parts and connectors of sandwich panels (8, 9), protective coatings (10), stray-current corrosion (11).
- Timber: protection requirements (12), methods and agents against biological decay (13, 14).
- Masonry: protection requirements (15), paint materials (16).
- Metal: corrosion protection requirements (18).
- Biological damage: protection requirements (19), hydraulic structures (20).
How the code is structured and what it means for a design — types of protection, input data, the link to GOST and ISO 12944 — is explained in our overview Corrosion protection standards in Uzbekistan.
How we translated it
- The translation is complete, with nothing shortened or paraphrased: the order, every clause, every note and table footnote.
- Every figure and every table has been checked against the original.
- The degrees of aggressive exposure are rendered as non-aggressive, slightly, moderately and strongly aggressive; the Russian translation uses the terms familiar from SP 28.13330.
- Numbers, units and designations are kept as written in the original, including the decimal comma.
Where the original is flawed
In 19 places the original text is ambiguous or contains an obvious error. We did not correct them: the translation renders the document as it is, and such places are marked “[sic]” (“[так в оригинале]” in the Russian version). For example:
- clause 73 — the degree of aggressive exposure for structures with liquids under pressure “shall be 0.1 MPa (1 atm)”: a degree of aggressiveness is not expressed in megapascals, the sentence in the original is garbled;
- clause 100 — “in rooms with an aggressive environment, masonry shall have joints”: the requirement breaks off without saying what the joints must be;
- clause 114 — field-welded joints are to be protected with coatings “using a sacrificial slag-filled plaster”: no such material exists in paint systems.
If such a clause affects your project, it is better to agree on the solution before the expert review and before materials are purchased. We will advise you: +998 94 094 52 27 (WhatsApp, Telegram).
How we can help
- Free express review of a design section — we show which corrosion protection decisions do not meet ShNK 2.03.11-24 and what needs to be revised.
- Adapting a design to Uzbek codes — if the corrosion protection section was designed to SP 28.13330, EN or ISO 12944.
- Online selection of a corrosion protection system — a first estimate: environment category, system type, catalogue materials.
- Questionnaire — for chemical-resistant coatings of tanks, vessels, plant floors and channels.
Official text
The translation is unofficial and intended for information. The official text is in Uzbek, in the National Database of Legislation (lex.uz/docs/7413179); in case of discrepancies it prevails. The execution and acceptance of corrosion protection work are governed by Construction Regulation QR 04.01-23, also covered in our overview of Uzbek codes.
We translated the code — we can also help you apply it: we will select the protection system, thicknesses and inspection procedure for your project and supply the materials. Phone, WhatsApp, Telegram: +998 94 094 52 27. E-mail: info@ognezashita.uz.
